TopCoding never stores code or data from GitHub on its servers. TopCoding only ever has read permissions to repositories which were selected by the used during the GitHub OAuth process.

TopCoding cannot modify code as it only requires and uses read permissions to the GitHub repositories. TopCoding makes a connection to GitHub and presents the code file in the document but this is done everytime dynamically. Therefore, if GitHub experiences any down time, you won't see any of the code loaded in TopCoding.

No. TopCoding GitHub authentication is done on a repository basis. You need to specifically authorize a repository for TopCoding to have read permissions.

You can at any point revoke the access for TopCoding to your GitHub. To do so you can go to the GitHub of your repository, go to Seetings and click on GitHub App. From here, you can revoke TopCoding read access to your repository. Note that you have to be the owner of the repository to have access to the GitHub App Settings.

TopCoding only stores medata on its servers such as document title, folder name and text from the document. All the data is encrypted and securely stored. TopCoding never stores code or code snippets. GitHub authorization is fully managed by GitHub and no GitHub authorization data is stored on TopCoding servers.

TopCoding is completely free for individual usage and it will always be. If you would like to bring TopCoding to your company, you can contact our team to discuss further.

Technicalities

You can at any point revoke the access for TopCoding to your GitHub repository. To do so you can go to your GitHub Settings / Applications / Integrations and edit/remove the permissions that TopCoding.

If you revoked GitHub access - do not panic. You will not see any code snippets loading in this case but you can still access TopCoding app, documents and metadata added to documents. If you enable GitHub access again, the linked code snippets will start loading again.

To add code snippets to your documents, you need to install the TopCoding IDE Plugin. Then, you can directly add code snippets to your documents from your IDE.

All documents are managed in the TopCoding app. You will need to log into your account in the TopCoding app to see and manage all the document and see your code documentation.

Product

It depends on your membership plan. If you have a premium membership, then you can have unlimited repositories. Please see Plans and Pricing for more details.

You can create unlimited number of documents no matter which membership plan you are on.

You can organise your documents and workspace in folders to keep it clean and tidy. Of course, you are not required to do so.

Yes, you can share documents and folders with other users. You can do this from the TopCoding app.

You can go to the TopCoding app, select a folder you would like to share with others and add people to the folder.

Currently, we do not support sharing a single document. However, it is on our roadmap.

Yes, you can but they will only see the document when they create an account with TopCoding. No public sharable links are supported yet.

Of course! To withdraw access to a document for everyone, you can move the document to your Private folder. Tihs way only you will have access to the document. If you want to share it later again with others, you can grant access again.

You can contact the team via email, contact form, discord or dedicated support channel if you have a premium plan.

Of course! All of your documents will be kept the same when upgrading a memebership.

Currently, we do not support other code editors apart from VS Code. However, it is on our roadmap.
